Meet at St Peter's Metro Station at 9:55am - remember to dress for the weather!
Workshop venue after the walk: Room RV204, Reg Vardy Building, University of Sunderland St Peter’s Campus, SR6 0DD
A two-hour walk-shop combining practical writing exercises with a short walk along the river Wear.
Join poet Jake Campbell on a perambulatory writing ‘walk-shop’. Starting with a short walk along the river Wear, from St. Peter’s Metro station to St. Peter’s monastery, we’ll chart the development of centuries of change in this part of Sunderland, before arriving at the Reg Vardy Centre to put pen to paper. By the end of the two hours, participants will have thought in some detail about what it might mean to write about place(s). They will be encouraged to think about how embodied movement through landscapes can stimulate writing; and writing exercises will have catalysed original draft materials, with feedback offered by both the facilitator and fellow participants.
